Wood and Fabric

aka furniture

Today we made significant progress today on the furniture front. Wood + fabric + nails + shipping be expensive, though. Our goal was to buy furniture that will last us 10+ years, though, so we don’t have to do this again. [In 10 years the kids will be graduated from high school and we can sell this house and furniture and live in a condo somewhere for all I care.]

We purchased a king bed, and matching nightstands (which you can half see in this image), in a tone a little bit lighter than this:

[I’m still on the fence about that dresser+mirror. Might add that.]

A dining room table:

We like that this is one piece when in “normal mode” but extends from the end when we finally have post-COVID company:

Plus this couch:

Add to that a light gray swivel chair that complements the couch, and another couch for the upstairs loft, and it was a productive day. We still need a coffee table, a few rugs, side tables, accent pillows, art, and baskets and knick knacks and shit, but we’re well on our way.

The rest of our stuff should be here sometime Monday, and then I have 4 mover people lined up for 5 hours of unloading on Tuesday. While I’m definitely looking forward to having some of our stuff back — dishes and utensils, kids’ beds and dressers, big TV, office setup — I feel like half of it could’ve fallen in a river and I would’ve happily taken the check from USAA. Regardless, we have ~20 man-hours booked to empty that trailer and I’ll be damn happy when it’s done. With luck I’ll be a happy man at the end of Tuesday, and even happier end of Wednesday when all the new furniture (sans bed, that’s custom) is delivered.

The kids experienced their first real thunderstorm yesterday.

Who has two thumbs and taught the kids to weed? This guy.

I paid them in Robux and everyone was satisfied with the arrangement. This could be the start of something beautiful.

Thanks again for reading! If you know of anyone who might be interested in these, please feel free to forward. At some point it won’t be all move-related, I promise.
